Pushing into the third dimension
One of FracRove's main features is its ability to see beyond the conventional two-dimensional
view of the Set. We start our journey out of 2D with the Genius Level of play.
Here's how:
- Click on User Level on the Control Panel.
- FracRove displays the Level of play dialog. Choose Genius.
- You'll get an explanation of what happens at that user level, and a picture
showing the multi-dimensional aspect of the Mandelbrot Set. Click OK.
- FracRove displays the Dimension Pusher panel:
- Select which axis along which you want the Set pushed, in this example
it's the A-axis. Click on the Positive or Negative direction
buttons. (In the example the Positive button was clicked seven times.)
The picture below shows the Mandelbrot Set at 0.7 along the A-axis.
- If you save each picture at 0.1 along an axis you can use a graphic program
to stack them and produce a picture like that below:
- This is the Mandelbrot Set pushed along the B-axis in 0.1 steps. Each
picture in the the stack was saved to a BMP file then imported into PaintShopPro
where I used the layer feature, and perspective/skew distortions
to produce the stack.
