The south-west region, Languedoc and Roussillon, comprises several wine growing areas. They produce reds, whites, rosés, and sweet dessert wines like Muscat. Most villages have their own local producers. The Minervois and Corbiere wines especially have come on tremendously since the early 1990's. On the farm where I regularly camp, the farmer said they had been digging up the old high yielding vines and replanting with lower yielding, but higher quality vines.
